Why did you decide to join SRSC?
I was drawn in by the 6 week Spring Transformation Challenge, it was the perfect challenge to motivate me to give Paleo and CrossFit a chance, but what kept me was the way I was coached from where I was, and never felt I was pushed beyond my abilities, my safety was always #1. The coaches (Joanna, Erik, and Kiki) ROCK and really are committed to your personal progress and helping you to get to where you want to be.
What has been your most memorable achievement since becoming a member?
My most memorable achievement was overcoming my own self-talk that I was overweight, out of shape, and in over my head, but I stuck with it even after the 6 week challenge, and now, I have literally re-shaped my body (less fat, more muscle), I have renewed vitality, and feel 10 years younger than when I started a year ago.
Favorite and least favorite exercises?
Of course my favorite exercises are the ones I do well, like dead lifting and back squats, and my least favorite are those I don’t do so well, like knees to elbow, wall balls (lots of wall balls!).
Current goal(s) in the gym or in life?
A big part of my motivation is that I wanted to get my body back in shape by my 65th birthday (in October) and one of the goals left is to reverse my bone density loss, and continue to strive to move from Foundations Level to Fitness level.
What's something that your gym mates would be surprised to know about you?
I was an avid bicyclist and a have enjoyed a number of bicycle vacations including 7 days in the San Juan Islands and the SF to LA Aids Ride (585 miles) 3 years in a row.
